Chapter 4 Only Children Make Choices - I Want Both Sisters
Zhu Zhuqing's crying stopped abruptly, and she swayed, almost unable to stand.
Su Xin still held her wrist, giving her a supporting force.
She didn't turn around, but stared intently at Zhu Zhuyun, as if trying to find the answers to all the questions that had arisen over the years in her sister's face.
"Why, sister! We're sisters!"
Why are you doing this to me? Do you know what I've been through all these years?
"I hate you, I really hate you!"
"You should hate me, you must hate me."
"Only in this way can I... bring myself to do it in the future."
Zhu Zhuyun spoke slowly.
"Do you think that the daughters of our Zhu family are born into a life of luxury as daughters of dukes?"
"Wrong. From the moment we are born, we are not living for ourselves."
"Our fate has long been inextricably linked with that of the Star Luo Empire's royal family."
"The struggle for the throne in the Star Luo Empire is a life-or-death battle."
“Every prince must pave his way to the throne with the blood of his brothers.”
"Our Zhu family has been intermarried with the Dai family for generations."
“We are just pawns in their struggle for the throne, and the key to their use of the Martial Soul Fusion Technique ‘Netherworld White Tiger’.”
Zhu Zhuqing was stunned. She had only vaguely heard about these family secrets, but no one had ever told her so bluntly before.
All she knew was that she had been engaged to Dai Mubai, the third prince of the Xingluo Empire, since childhood.
Seeing her younger sister's bewildered expression, Zhu Zhuyun continued:
“I, Zhu Zhuyun, am destined to marry the eldest prince, Davis. And you, Zhu Zhuqing, are destined to marry the third prince, Dai Mubai.”
"When the two brothers fight for the throne, we sisters must also settle the score."
"The winner, along with her husband, will become the future Empress of the Star Luo Empire. And the loser..."
She paused, a flicker of pain crossing her eyes.
"The loser has no choice but to die. They may even be completely erased from existence by the winner."
"What...what kind of rule is this?"
Zhu Zhuqing's face was ashen; she couldn't accept such a cruel reality.
"This is a rule that has been in place for thousands of years! No one can defy it, and no one dares to defy it!"
"I don't want this! I don't want this at all!"
“I remember, when you were little, you loved to follow me around like a little tail.”
"Whenever I have something delicious to eat, you're the first person I think of. If anyone dares to bully you, I'll be the first to rush up and beat them to a pulp."
"Back then, you would always hold my arm and call me 'sister' in your soft, sweet voice..."
At this point, Zhu Zhuyun's voice choked with emotion, and tears streamed down her beautiful face.
“But everything changed the moment we were identified as Davis and Democracy’s fiancées.”
“My father and mother looked at me differently. They told me that I had to become stronger and ruthless.”
"Because my opponent is you, my most beloved younger sister."
"I can't do it... I really can't do it!"
Zhu Zhuyun covered her face, her body trembling violently.
"If I still cherish you and love you as I did before."
"When the day comes for the struggle for the throne, how can I lay a hand on you? How can I kill you with my own hands?"
"So all I can do is... make you hate me, keep you away from me, and fill you with vigilance and hostility towards me."
"Only in this way can I force myself to treat you as a real enemy!"
"I sent people to hunt you down, causing a huge uproar every time, just to force you to leave Xingluo City and to force you to keep getting stronger!"
"I dare not really hurt you, I can only secretly eliminate some real dangers for you."
"I thought that as long as you escaped far away, to the Tiandou Empire, you might be able to escape this fate."
"But I never expected you to go to Slake Academy, where Dai Mubai is too! You've walked right into a trap, little sister!"
All the truth struck Zhu Zhuqing's heart like a heavy hammer.
Her mind was in a whirl as scenes from the past flashed before her eyes.
Those seemingly thrilling chases, those perfectly timed escape routes, and the occasional hint of reluctance beneath the sister's cold words...
It turns out it was all a lie. The hatred was fake, the pursuit was fake, only the sisterly love hidden deep in their hearts was real.
"Sister..." Zhu Zhuqing could no longer hold on and lunged forward, embracing Zhu Zhuyun tightly.
Years of pent-up grievances, fear, confusion, and regret all erupted into a wail at that moment.
"I'm sorry... Sister, I'm so sorry! I didn't know, I didn't know anything! I still hate you, I..."
Zhu Zhuyun hugged her younger sister tightly, their tears soaking their clothes.
Two girls, cruelly manipulated by fate, embraced and wept bitterly in front of a teahouse in the middle of nowhere, oblivious to everyone around them.
They lamented the grievances they had suffered over the years, and also expressed their helplessness in the face of an inescapable fate.
The surrounding Soul Master guards all lowered their heads, unable to bear to look at this heartbreaking scene.
And Su Xin was the catalyst for all of this.
She simply stood quietly to the side. Her eyes were calm, and her heart was completely undisturbed.
Deep sisterly affection? A sense of powerlessness in the face of fate?
In his view, this was nothing more than the lament of the weak.
So-called destiny and so-called rules are nothing more than game rules set up by a more powerful force.
If your fist is hard enough to shatter all rules, then your words become the new rules.
The Star Luo Empire? The Dai Family?
A bunch of things that are no different from ants in his eyes, what right do they have to talk about destiny?
He looked at the two sisters, their faces streaked with tears, but his mind was on something else entirely.
"Cry, cry, it's good to vent all the negative emotions in your heart."
"When you realize that so-called destiny is just a joke in the face of absolute power, you will understand who your true support is."
Su Xin wanted more than just Zhu Zhuqing.
He wants both of these twin sisters.
After crying for a long time, the two sisters finally calmed down.
With red eyes, Zhu Zhuqing left her sister's embrace, tears still clinging to her face.
But the coldness and wariness in his eyes had completely disappeared, replaced by deep affection and guilt.
Zhu Zhuyun reached out and gently wiped away her sister's tears, her movements tender, as if she were protecting a rare treasure.
Her own eyes were red, but her expression had regained its usual determination.
"Okay, stop crying, or you'll look like a little kitten."
"Sister..." Zhu Zhuqing sobbed, wanting to say something more.
Zhu Zhuyun shook her head, interrupting her.
He then took a deep breath, his eyes sharpening again, but this time with a hint of determination.
"Sister, it's good that we've cleared things up between us."
"But you must remember, though the truth is cruel, fate is fate, and it will not change because we sisters recognize each other."
She took a step back, distancing herself from Zhu Zhuqing, as if deliberately creating a sense of estrangement.
"Since you're going to Slake Academy, then go for it. You must train diligently and not slack off in any way!"
Zhu Zhuqing stared blankly at her, not understanding why her sister had suddenly become so serious again.
"Because this is the last time I'm releasing water."
"From now on, I will no longer show you any mercy. The next time we meet, it may be on the battlefield for the position of Crown Princess."
"At that time, I hope you can unleash your full strength and fight me, without any hesitation because of what happened today."
"Because I will absolutely not show any mercy!"
After saying that, she resolutely turned around and refused to look at Zhu Zhuqing again, as if looking at her for even a moment would shake her resolve.
"Let's go!" she coldly ordered her dozen or so subordinates.
The soul master guards felt as if they had been granted a pardon and were about to set off immediately. They were caught in the middle of the two sisters, and the pressure on them was immense.
Chapter 5 Zhu Zhuyun - From Today Onwards, She Belongs to Me
Zhu Zhuqing's heart tightened, and she instinctively wanted to ask him to stay.
However, a voice rang out faster than hers.
"Did I tell you to leave?"
Su Xin stood there from beginning to end, watching the entire scene of sisterly affection unfold like an outsider.
Finally, he slowly opened his mouth.
Zhu Zhuyun stopped in her tracks, turned around abruptly, and shot a pair of cold phoenix eyes at Su Xin.
The tenderness she had shown her sister just moments before vanished, replaced by the imposing and menacing aura of the eldest daughter of the Duke's mansion.
