Chapter 676 Slughorn in the School Hospital
As it turned out, Siron was right.
Because when they were all staring at Ms. Rosmerta, she suddenly winked at them.
The real Ms. Rosmerta would never do that, so it's obvious who the other person is.
Xiren hadn't expected that Tonks would actually—well, thinking about it carefully, it's not entirely incomprehensible. If the Death Eaters wanted to do something else, they probably wouldn't have guessed that the owner of the Three Brooms had been replaced by an Auror.
However, the Death Eaters did not arrive, and nothing unusual happened outside until Celion and his companions finished their butterbeer and were about to leave the Three Broomsticks.
Then the group returned to Hogwarts, but to their surprise, a major event was taking place in the castle.
Slughorn has been poisoned, and now almost all the professors, including Dumbledore, are in the university hospital.
"Wait, Ginny." Ron rubbed his ears, asking incredulously, "Who did you say was poisoned?"
"Slughorn, our Potions professor," Ginny said again.
"But isn't he a Potions Master?" Ron asked incredulously.
"Who told you that Potions Masters can't be poisoned?" Ginny rolled her eyes. "Some poisons and curses are undetectable. Don't even mention Slughorn; even Headmaster Dumbledore has been poisoned."
"Although he's fine now, you all know how terrible his right hand was when school started."
Ron nodded subconsciously.
Indeed, if even a wizard like Dumbledore was cursed, then it's quite normal for Slughorn to be poisoned.
"Should we go see him?" Hermione asked.
"It's best not to," Ginny said. "The professors are all at the university hospital right now, and they've sent all the students who wanted to visit Professor Slughorn back."
Despite Ginny's words, the group did not give up their desire to go and see what was going on.
"Harry, you're Professor Slughorn's favorite student. Maybe it would be possible if it were you," Ron said.
Harry nodded.
He suddenly remembered that he hadn't finished the homework Dumbledore had assigned, and this was a good opportunity.
No students are visiting him, but if I go myself, it will definitely increase Slughorn's favorability. Maybe the other party will be so happy that he will give him that memory.
And this is also what Dumbledore wants to know; he has no reason to stop himself.
While he was in Hogsmeade, he also bought a lot of sweets from Honeydukes, which were perfect gifts.
With that thought in mind, Harry immediately set off for the school hospital, and Siron quickly followed.
He was also very curious about who exactly wanted to harm Slughorn.
Malfoy and the others?
But they were also in Hogsmeade; Siron had seen them in Honeyduke and The Three Broomsticks.
Soon, the group arrived at the university hospital, where, as expected, there were many professors. Mrs. Pomfrey stood at the entrance of the university hospital and stopped them.
"Visits are prohibited now. Go home."
"But----"
"go back!"
Harry wanted to say something more, but Madam Pomfrey was adamant and refused to let them pass no matter what.
Just as Harry was about to give up, Dumbledore walked out of the school hospital.
"Bobby, I think letting one or two students in would help Horace recover better," Dumbledore said softly. "You know, he cares a lot about this, and Harry and Shiron just happen to be his favorite students."
Mrs. Pomfrey hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
"Okay, but only the two of them can go in, and they can't talk loudly. They have to come out in five minutes."
She made many requests, but the two agreed without hesitation and followed Dumbledore into the school hospital.
Hermione and Ron also wanted to go and see, but this time Madam Pomfrey refused to let them go, so the two could only wait outside.
Upon entering the school hospital, Xiren discovered that Slughorn wasn't as bad as they had imagined. Although his complexion wasn't great, it was still relatively normal, and his rounder figure hadn't changed much.
Upon seeing someone walk in, a smile immediately appeared on his face.
"Oh, Harry, Celeste—my dear, I'm so glad you could come to see me."
"This is our gift." Harry took out the pineapple preserves, and Slughorn's smile widened.
"You're just as thoughtful as Lily; she used to be my favorite student," Slughorn remarked.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Dumbledore is urging Shiren to give Slughorn a unicorn treatment.
"Believe me, Siren, I absolutely didn't mean anything by it, I just wanted him to get better quickly."
Siren looked at the serious-looking Dumbledore and nodded.
"I believe you, Professor. But the soul of a unicorn is only effective against curses and dark magic; poisons are not among them."
"Really?" Dumbledore's face showed disappointment. "That's a real shame."
After Harry placed the pineapple preserves on the cabinet next to Slughorn's bed, Snape rushed over and squeezed them aside.
"Poison in mead is a very potent potion, and it has no taste at all," he said.
"Yes, it was indeed very vicious." Slughorn nodded. "Although I noticed something was wrong in time, I was still poisoned."
"But I really have to thank you, Harry," Slughorn said suddenly.
Harry looked at him, completely bewildered.
Slughorn then took out an oval-shaped stone.
“The dung bead, remember?” Slughorn said. “It was on the table when you handed in your assignment, and I immediately put it in my mouth after I realized I was poisoned.”
Siren suddenly realized that this was the assignment Harry had submitted in a flash of inspiration when making the mixed antidote last time, which Hermione had been angry about at the time.
Fecal stones can neutralize most poisons, no wonder Slughorn looks so good.
"Oh, really? I never knew Mr. Potter had such extensive knowledge of potions?" Snape glanced at Harry coldly.
Harry's face flushed slightly, but he still stubbornly stared back at Snape.
"That's wonderful." Dumbledore stepped forward, standing right between the two.
"But Horace, do you know who touched your mead?" he asked.
"No one should be," Slughorn said after a moment's thought. "I bought it from Three Brooms and it's been sitting in a locker in my office ever since. Only I can open that locker. If I absolutely have to say anyone has touched it—"
"Mrs. Rosmerta," Dumbledore said calmly, "it seems we'll have to make a trip to Hogsmeade Village."
"Lady Rosmerta is not in Hogsmeade," Siron said.
The professors all looked over.
"Mr. Ollivander, haven't the three brooms opened the door yet?" Professor Flitwick said.
“No, the door is open,” Siren said, “but the Lady Rosmerta inside now is Nymphadora Tonks in disguise. You all know she’s an Auror and a Disguised Magus.”
"Thank you for reminding me, Siren," Dumbledore said with a smile. "We understand."
Siren nodded, and then looked Dumbledore up and down as he walked out of the school hospital.
Dumbledore looks much better now; he walks steadily and his voice is not as weak.
And he just mentioned unicorns, so he probably wants to get rid of the last little bit of the curse as soon as possible.
Siren glanced at Snape—never mind, it won't make a difference if they come back from Hogsmeade.
