Chapter 138 The Extraordinary Characteristics of Trading
Raphael had over a dozen zombies stand in the living room, and the apartment suddenly became "overcrowded."
He first opened the letter Wagner sent and looked at it before lying down to rest.
In Raphael's mind, an assassin is a mysterious and glamorous profession.
However, the assassins in Backlund now are basically all desperate criminals. The so-called "assassins" just rush in and fight their targets to the death, without any skill involved.
So, a major reason Raphael founded the assassin company was to experience what it was like to be an assassin and have some fun. As for digesting the "serial killer's" potion, that was something he could easily do incidentally.
Or to put it another way, digesting the magic potion is "work," while experiencing being a killer is "life."
When Raphael chatted with Dawn Dantes today about witches, he realized that the wealthy man had never experienced what it was like to be a witch.
In Raphael's view, this was a person who didn't care much about life.
Admittedly, after becoming an Extraordinary, the conspiracies and attacks from other Extraordinary, as well as the madness and distortion brought about by Extraordinary, are two major obstacles in the minds of most Extraordinary.
But Raphael still believed that even under high pressure, one should pay attention to the quality of life and not always live for the sake of potions, otherwise one would easily become an extraordinary slave.
Raphael remembered that the end of the world was still more than a decade away. The timeframe was indeed pressing, but not to the point where there was no time to spare.
Especially after becoming Sequence 6, Raphael realized that as long as he didn't act recklessly like he had in the past few days and get involved in the struggle between demigods, he could actually be willful occasionally.
The assassin company was a product of his capricious behavior.
Now, the first business has come in. The employer is an iron ore merchant who is willing to pay 300 pounds to eliminate a competitor who has caused him a loss.
Wagner had already conducted preliminary investigations, targeting a follower of the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery, with two extraordinary bodyguards, some information about his company, and records of his surveillance.
But this information was far from enough. After resting for half a day, Raphael personally approached Wagner and gave him several new directions for the investigation, such as carefully investigating whether the target had any diseases, hobbies, or a family history of hereditary diseases, etc.
Raphael intended to be a sophisticated assassin; simply rushing in and killing the other person would be too beneath him.
Raphael further instructed Wagner to be careful to conceal the investigators' identities during the investigation, as this was crucial to maintaining the assassin company's mystique. He also demanded that Wagner establish an intelligence network to gather information on wealthy businessmen and nobles.
This intelligence is mostly unnecessary, but if it is needed, simply rummaging through the file folder is more effective in maintaining confidentiality than searching for it only when it is needed.
Of course, these things cost a lot of money, but Raphael has two big incomes coming in soon and is not short of money.
After leaving Wagner, Raphael went to the Blue Parrot Bar, coughing as he pushed open the door.
There weren't many customers in the bar yet. Leonard Mitchell, handsome, wearing a black trench coat and with a poetic air, was sitting on a stool at the counter waiting.
Raphael coughed twice and waved at him.
Today is the day they agreed to trade based on the extraordinary nature of the transaction.
Leonard looked at Rafael: "You have a cold?"
Sequence 6 can catch a cold? Unless—
Leonard thought of last year's "smog incident".
Raphael waved his hand and said, "It's nothing. I took out my lungs, washed them, and the pneumonia is basically cured."
Leonard smiled and said, "You can also open up your entire chest cavity to let your feverish body cool down."
"Yes, it was opened, but not by myself."
Leonard smiled and shook his head: "Okay, jokes over, let's get down to business."
"Is the goods ready?"
"Ready." Raphael looked around. Meeting here was fine, but making a deal here wouldn't be appropriate.
Leonard understood Raphael's meaning and smiled, "That's easy."
He raised his hand and pinched his forehead, and invisible ripples spread out.
thump~
The bartender suddenly collapsed onto the counter.
This was like a signal, and then the sleeping people began to spread outwards from Leonard as the center.
Two or three seconds later, everyone in the bar fell asleep.
Leonard's eyes deepened: "Alright, we can proceed with the trade now."
In general, during battle, if the target is put into a dream, the extraordinary person with the "Sleepless" pathway will also fall asleep, keeping the target trapped in the dream at all times.
But the people around them are ordinary people, and even without maintaining the dream state, they can sleep for more than ten minutes.
Feeling his eyelids getting heavy, Raphael remarked, "This ability would be really useful for robberies!"
The target of the robbery falls asleep instantly, allowing for a leisurely search of their wallet—and perhaps a quick steal of their extraordinary qualities as well.
Leonard laughed and said, "I wouldn't do something so boring."
As Raphael took out his extraordinary properties, he said, "It seems you've considered this aspect before."
Leonard took the characteristics and used his spirituality to determine the sequence of characteristics: "I am an extraordinary being."
"Imagine using your extraordinary abilities to commit a crime, and you get arrested? Or it even affects your chances of becoming an official Extraordinary?"
Leonard didn't know how to refute: "One Sequence 6 property, three Sequence 7 properties, two Sequence 8 properties, three Sequence 9 properties."
"The church's suggested retail prices are £2500, £1200, £600, and £300 respectively."
The total transaction amount was as high as £8200, but Leonard did not pay for it, so he was not bothered by it.
Raphael nodded: "No problem."
Leonard pulled out a small cloth bag: "Count them."
Opening the cloth bag revealed neatly arranged gold pounds, all in 10-pound denominations.
Raphael ran his fingers over the bag, the number roughly matched, then he put away his bag and immediately took his leave.
Leonard replied, "How can I contact you if I want to find you?"
Raphael took out a pen and paper and wrote down an address: "You can send a letter to this address, indicating it is for Mr. Mechanic."
That's the address of the assassin company.
Raphael gave the other party this address with a somewhat wicked sense of humor: I'll just tell you the address outright and see if you can find it.
Leonard put away the address: "No problem."
The two left in different directions. Raphael returned to the assassin company and gave Wagner 3000 pounds in one go, instructing him to try to establish an intelligence network and cover daily expenses. He also explicitly told Wagner that he would divine whether the money was being used for the missions he had assigned.
One advantage of the extraordinary world is that you don't have to worry too much about your subordinates fooling you.
Afterwards, Raphael went back to rest for two days to recover from his illness, and then began to handle the assassin company's first job.
