Chapter 27: Wendy Reunited
Chapter 27: Wendy Reunited
After searching the outskirts of the Vass Tree Sea, Moen found nothing. However, it's not entirely without results; he found a dilapidated and abandoned village. The village was in such a state of disrepair that the architecture suggested it had been around for quite some time.
"Is this some kind of tribal ruin?"
Moen stepped into the village; it was worth looking around, he thought Gerald and Wendy might be resting here.
However, Moen had only just entered the village and hadn't even had a chance to search thoroughly when the village revealed itself to be anything but simple.
"Buzz!!!"
A terrifying magical wave instantly enveloped the entire dilapidated village.
This powerful magical fluctuation wasn't malicious; it wasn't offensive magic. In fact, Moen didn't even realize what kind of magic it was. He only sensed that the caster's magical power was unbelievably abundant—was they cheating?!
Moen looked around, frowning as he observed. The magic wasn't particularly offensive, nor was it aimed at him. He was curious as to why the caster was making such a commotion.
Then, Moen was shocked by what was happening in the village.
Under his gaze, the once deserted and dilapidated village suddenly came alive, and a group of villagers suddenly appeared! They appeared out of thin air! They were instantly formed by that immense magical power!
"Wait... what kind of operation is this?!"
Moen stared wide-eyed at what was happening before him, his eyes wide with shock. Even with his extensive experience, he was still somewhat stunned.
"Could it be... a thought entity?"
However, after realizing what had happened, Moen had a guess.
The "thought body" is a concept commonly found in various ACG works.
Moen doesn't know about the others, but in this world, a thought entity is a clone that splits off from a mother body with a soul and lacks self-awareness.
Of course, this is a thought form created by a living person.
Another possibility is that a remembrance body can also form, which is the deceased's strong obsession or unfulfilled wish.
The resulting "thought entity" is essentially the soul and memory projection of the deceased, and its personality is not significantly different from that of the deceased in life.
The Thought Entity looks no different from an ordinary person. As a manifestation of magic, the Thought Entity gives people the feeling of an ordinary mage, and mages find it difficult to perceive any difference.
These suddenly appearing "villagers" are clearly like created clones of thought, but the problem is, in that magical fluctuation just now, there was only one person's magical aura...
Does this mean that these clones... were all created by the same person?
"Squeak."
Just as Moen was racking his brains trying to figure it out, a door to a house opened.
An old man dressed somewhat like a Native American came out.
Behind him, a figure that Moen was searching for appeared.
"Wendy, look, aren't these all our guild members? There are so many of them, all of them are our guild members!"
The old man smiled and spoke to Wendy.
Wow! There are so many friends!
Wendy's little face was flushed, and she looked excited. There were still some tears in her eyes, as if she had just been crying.
"Huh?!"
Excited Wendy turned her head and saw Moen. Then she froze, letting out a cute, surprised gasp.
"Grandpa, is this guild called Fairy Tail?"
Wendy looked at the old man beside her, blinked her big eyes, and asked the question that puzzled the old man.
Clearly, Wendy remembered the name "Fairy Tail" very well.
"Fairy Tail? Uh, no."
Robin shook his head. Although he hadn't decided on a name for the newly established guild, it certainly couldn't be called "Fairy Tail." Although he hadn't heard of the guild, it was clear that it already existed.
At the same time, Robin Lu's gaze also fell on Moen, who looked completely bewildered.
"Hey kid, who are you?"
Robin Lu spoke first, his brows furrowing. Was this child already there when he created so many thought entities? Did he see them all?
"Ahem, hello, I'm Moen, Moen Dreyer, a mage from Fairy Tail. I'm here to see Wendy and Jellal."
Seeing that both of them were looking at him, and that all the other beings around him were also looking over, Mo En coughed lightly and immediately introduced himself, while also stating his purpose.
Moen had already figured it out; the strangely dressed old man next to Wendy must be the spellcaster from earlier.
That powerful being with immense magical power, capable of creating a multitude of thought entities with different appearances and shapes!
The most outrageous thing is that Moen has noticed that the created thought entities seem to be very spiritual. To put it simply, they all look very human and don't look like the clones created by this old man at all.
This truly shocked Moen. How is this any different from directly "creating people with magic"?! Could it be that this old man has schizophrenia? Are all these clones his own personalities?
Compared to the idea of "magical creation," Moen was more inclined to believe that the old man had a split personality, at least it was more acceptable than the former.
"Wendy, do you know this kid?"
After hearing Moen's words, Robin looked at Wendy. He felt that they should know each other. Wendy had just mentioned "Fairy Tail" probably because of this Moen Drowa in front of her.
"Yes! I know him!"
Wendy nodded emphatically, then took two steps forward with her short legs, came up to Moen, and asked with a curious look:
"Big brother, did you come to see me and Gerald?"
"Hmm, where's Gerald? I can't find him."
Looking at the adorable Wendy, Moen nodded first, then looked around, but he didn't see Gerald.
"Geralt...Grandpa Robin said he has something very urgent to do..."
Mentioning Gerald, Wendy's expression changed, becoming somewhat aggrieved, and tears began to well up in her eyes again.
Seeing Wendy's pouting, tearful, and aggrieved expression, Moen roughly understood what had happened. Gerald had probably entrusted Wendy to this old man's care.
That guy seemed eager to leave when we were in the Vas Tree Sea, so he probably had something really urgent to deal with.
"It's okay, Wendy. He didn't abandon you; he just didn't want you to be in danger."
Moen crouched down, reached out and touched Wendy's head, looked her in the eye, and with a bright smile on his face, began to comfort her.
"Blow!"
Hearing Moen's words, Wendy sniffed and wiped her face haphazardly with her little hands, trying to wipe away her tears.
