Chapter 22: The Show Begins
Chapter 22: The Show Begins
The global headquarters of the Ultimate Martial Arts Academy.
Thor stared at the laser cannon that took up almost half the room.
The cannon was covered with complex energy patterns, and a cold, oppressive feeling emanated from it, making Thor's heart clench.
He instinctively took a half step back, his eyes wide open, and cautiously circled the giant cannon he had never seen before twice.
He reached out to touch the cold cannon barrel, but pulled his hand back halfway, as if afraid that the thing would explode if he wasn't careful.
After a long while, he finally managed to squeeze out a sentence.
"Holy crap! Dude, what...did you steal from some alien armory? What on earth is this thing?"
Hong's expression remained calm, as if it were a trivial matter. He walked to the giant cannon and gently patted its barrel.
"B6-level laser cannon".
He spoke calmly.
"At full power, it is enough to pose a fatal threat to a sixth-level star-level expert."
"hiss--"
Thor gasped, his initial shock instantly turning into ecstasy. He rushed forward, grabbed the laser cannon's barrel, and his face was filled with fanaticism.
"Sixth-tier Celestial Realm! My God! Hahahaha! Big Brother! You're my god!"
"This thing..."
Looking at Thor's pathetic appearance, Hong continued.
"It's been idle for too long, and the energy core and some circuits are aging. Go back and have those top weapons experts fix it as soon as possible."
"Also, have them thoroughly study the structure of this thing. See if we can replicate some weakened versions. It doesn't need to be too strong, even just one-tenth the power of the original. We can install a dozen or so more on the Dome of Light, that would be enough."
"No problem, leave it to me."
Thor rubbed his hands together excitedly, his face flushed with excitement, as he circled the laser cannon, muttering to himself.
"With this treasure, the last weakness of our Dome of Light project has been completely filled. Haha, I'd like to see which blind monster will dare to show its face on our Earth from now on."
Hong's expression suddenly turned serious.
"It's just a weapon. Getting this excited won't change the fundamental problem."
Thor's smile froze instantly, and he looked at Hong with some confusion.
Hong ignored him, instead looking him straight in the eyes and asking in an unquestionable tone.
"Second brother, tell me, how long have you been stuck at the ninth level of the planetary realm?"
Thor's smile froze.
Yes, how long has it been?
Ever since his sparring session with Hong in the wilderness and witnessing the power of the domain, he has been training day and night, devoting almost all his time to honing his strength.
However, after so many years, although his strength is already considered top-tier among ninth-level planetary-level beings, he still can't seem to grasp the threshold to reach higher realms.
"Big brother, I..."
Thor opened his mouth, but didn't know what to say.
Hong walked over to him and patted his strong shoulder.
"Your way of lightning is domineering and powerful enough. However, it lacks variation and depth. To put it bluntly, your temperament is too impetuous, second brother."
Upon hearing this, Thor fell into a long silence.
That's just his personality—brave, ambitious, and relentlessly forward. But it's precisely this personality that makes it difficult for him to truly calm down and appreciate deeper things.
"When you get back, stop getting involved in all that fighting and killing. Aren't you knowledgeable about ancient yoga and our Chinese internal martial arts? Go study some of the ancient Chinese philosophical classics, like the Tao Te Ching and Zhuangzi. You used to read these things as just stories; now, read them carefully and try to understand their meaning."
Hong's words gradually calmed Thor's agitated heart.
"When you can make your spirit and will, like your lightning, both unleash tremendous power and be able to control it at will, your domain will naturally advance."
"Our current strength is still too weak. A single star level is just a slightly larger ant in the universe."
He remained silent for a long time, then nodded emphatically, his eyes becoming solemn.
"I understand, brother."
"Oh, and this too."
Hong waved his hand, and three silver-clad guards appeared in front of Thor.
"This is the Silver Guardian. Second brother, keep an eye out and see if there is a suitable energy source to activate it in Earth or in the ancient civilization ruins that have already been explored. This is a high-level guard that can entangle a universe-level powerhouse. We need to pay attention to it. If we can activate it, we will have an extra layer of protection."
Thor nodded, his eyes shining, and walked up to the B6-level laser cannon and the Silver Guardian, carefully putting them into his storage space.
……
After Thor left, Hong walked alone to the huge floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the bustling Hongning Base City below.
All the previous arrangements were merely stepping stones within an established framework.
Now, he seems to have the right to overturn the chessboard.
"The Golden Horned Beast..."
He muttered to himself, this was always a threat hanging over Earth. He had made so many preparations; it shouldn't be as devastating as in the original story.
"Before it arrives, all these hidden dangers inside the Earth must be completely cleared away."
His gaze seemed to pierce through the earth and the sea, locking onto the two planetary-level sixth and seventh-tier monster kings.
"Before, I was unable to kill them quickly because they were hiding in the sea due to the environment. With my current strength, and with the fourth level of my domain, it is not difficult to kill those two beasts who only know how to act on instinct by surprise."
"Once they are eliminated, all the resources and land on the planet will belong to humanity. At that time, the development speed of human civilization will surely experience an unprecedented explosion."
Just as he was deep in thought, a black figure appeared silently behind him.
It was his personal guard, alluring.
"The curator."
Hong did not turn around, his gaze still fixed on the world outside the window, and spoke softly.
"Speak."
A captivating and swift report from the director.
"Of the eight War Gods who went to the No. 9 Ancient Civilization Ruins for trials three weeks ago, five have returned on time."
Hong nodded.
"but……"
Her alluring tone suddenly paused.
"What's wrong?"
Hong finally turned around slowly and looked at her.
Yao Rao took a deep breath.
"Everyone is out safely."
"Only Luo Feng did not return on time."
Hong listened quietly, and after a long while, a smile appeared on his lips.
He turned around and turned his gaze back to the vast world outside the window, murmuring softly in a voice only he could hear.
"The show's about to begin, isn't it?"
