Chapter 97 The Pee-Pee Ghost Murder Case
Chapter 97 The Pee-Pee Ghost Murder Case
Chapter 97 The Pee-Pee Ghost Murder Case (Part 1)
With a loud bang, the door to the Potions classroom slammed shut behind Lucas.
Holding the steaming hot crucible, Lucas felt utterly cold inside.
Has the door to Potions closed to me as well?
Good heavens! I did every step perfectly, the raw material processing was impeccable, and the operation was smooth, precise and fast. How did I turn a pot of medicine into a pot of soup?
Does this mean all the potions I brew from now on will turn into soup?!
"Let's run!" Ellie said astutely, "before Professor Snape really explodes."
As Lucas's partner, Ellie chose to stand by him through thick and thin, while Hannah and the others were stunned by Snape's rage and couldn't react for a moment.
But what if Snape really exploded? If this isn't an explosion, then what is?
"That's right!" Lucas exclaimed, startling himself, and jogged off with the crucible in his arms.
Professor Snape was so angry he forgot to deduct points!
If Hufflepuff sees itself again later, it will probably deduct 100 points from its score!
The two hurriedly ran up from the underground classroom, then slowed down after turning two corners of the stairs.
So, where should we go now? Theoretically speaking, it's still class time, so where can we take this pot of soup?
"Why think so much? Let's go back to the dorm's common room and wait for them to finish class," Ellie said nonchalantly. "They can't possibly expel us over something like this, can they?"
Lucas gave a wry smile. Expulsion was out of the question, but Potions was a very important foundational subject in magic. If he managed to anger Professor Snape to the point of losing his mind in the very first class, his future in this course would be bleak.
He sighed, but Ellie reached out the stirring spoon she had been holding and peered it at the crucible in Lucas's hand.
Lucas quickly shrank back: "Ellie, what are you doing?"
Ellie said matter-of-factly, "I'll have some soup. We can't go to class, but we still have to have some soup."
"This soup—oh dear, this isn't soup," Lucas said, both amused and exasperated. "It's a potion. I don't know why it turned into soup, but it's definitely not real soup and shouldn't be drunk."
The two huddled together, staring intently at the crucible.
In the translucent, pale golden liquid, because it hadn't been filtered yet, one could still vaguely make out the residue of daisy roots, dried nettles, and valerian leaves.
"These are clearly ingredients for a 'soothing potion,' but why does the color and aroma of the broth resemble 'matsutake and bamboo fungus soup' so much? It's magic!" Ellie said. "You were thinking of making soup, and it actually turned into soup. Since it's soup, it's drinkable."
It's logically sound and flawless.
"No way." Lucas firmly refused, tossing Ellie's stirring spoon in as well. "This is a potion with complex magical effects and toxicological reactions! It looks like soup, but who knows what it actually is? What if it causes a mutation?"
However, Ellie's interference helped Lucas regain his composure.
There are two things I need to do now. First, I need to figure out exactly why my potions turned into soup. Second, I need to figure out how to deal with Professor Snape's rage so I can attend Potions class again next time.
Looking for the principal? How should I put it?
"Professor Dumbledore, on my first day of class, I turned a potion into soup, and then Professor Snape kicked me out. Could you please help me resolve this?"
The greatest wizard is so busy that it seems a bit strange to ask him for something like this.
Let's go find the kind Professor Sprout.
Having made up their minds, Lucas once again held the crucible of soup in his arms, preparing to have the professor examine it to see what was going on.
Now another question arises: in which office does Professor Sprout live?
Just then, a crumpled piece of paper suddenly flew out from an empty classroom with its door half open and landed with a "thud" at Lucas's feet.
The two peered out and saw a dwarf dressed in strange clothes and wearing a clown hat, sitting cross-legged in mid-air, holding a handful of crumpled paper and hitting the bullseye drawn on the blackboard.
A ghost? Lucas paused, but something was wrong. This dwarf's body wasn't like the ghost's pearly white, translucent form; it was hazy and gray, like a dark cloud. And the most significant difference was that ghosts couldn't touch solid objects, but this dwarf could!
"Hello?" Lucas asked tentatively. "Do you know how to get to Professor Sprout's office?"
The little dwarf floating in mid-air turned its head, its black eyes darting around, and an exaggerated, comical smile appeared on its face.
"First-year students? First day of class?"
Lucas and Ellie nodded. The dwarf's smile widened: "Oh, you two lost little wizards! Luckily you met me! I'm a castle elf from Hogwarts, here to help little wizards!"
"Hmm..." He suddenly sniffed, staring at the crucible in Lucas's hand. "Wow, what's this? It smells so good!"
Lucas was even more surprised: "Excuse me, you can smell things? As far as I know, ghosts can only sense foul odors."
The dwarf laughed even harder: "You're absolutely right. The ghosts can only taste stinky things, which is such a shame, isn't it? I just said that I'm different from them. I'm a kind castle elf."
He tipped his hat as he tumbled in mid-air.
"You're looking for Professor Sprout? I know, I know, she's busy. Come with me, I'll take you there!"
Lucas and Ellie exchanged a glance and followed him forward. Although they found this "castle elf" a bit strange, surely there couldn't be anything harmful in Hogwarts.
The little dwarf floated ahead, asking the two their names and chatting idly as he led them through winding staircases and corridors. After going up and down the stairs several times, the two were even a little confused about which floor they were on. Finally, they stopped in a long corridor.
"Look! It's right over there in that office!" the dwarf pointed.
Lucas and Ellie instinctively looked up, and in that split second, the dwarf swooped down and snatched the cauldron from Lucas's hand!
"What are you doing?" Lucas was taken aback when Ellie pulled out her wand.
"Hehehehehe!" The little dwarf, clutching the cauldron, leaped up to near the ceiling like a cannonball, letting out a piercing laugh. "Fool, idiot, moron! Teasing first-year students is the most fun! Remember, I am the great Mischievous Ghost!"
Then he screamed at a volume loud enough to lift the roof off.
"Filch! You old codger! Come quick! Two first-graders skipped school and barged into the restricted fourth-floor hallway!"
"Come and catch them!!!"
Peeves ran and yelled, his screams echoing through the corridor. Ellie was furious and was about to swing her wand when he, with lightning speed, grabbed the cauldron and dodged left and right, disappearing in a flash.
Ellie was about to give chase when Lucas grabbed her arm. The cauldron of potion was secondary; the "forbidden fourth-floor corridor" immediately reminded him of the classic scene of "accidentally entering the White Tiger Hall"...
"Let's go, let's hurry!"
The two started running, and just as they reached the end of the corridor, they heard heavy footsteps coming from the stairs ahead, along with a mournful meow from a cat.
"Very well, skipping school and daring to come here! Darling, catch them, I'm going to hang them in the dungeon!"
"Meow--"
This time, Ellie grabbed Lucas instead and ran backwards.
"The prefect told us last night that Filch won't listen to any explanations!" Ellie said urgently. "He's even more of a psychopath than Snape! He has an inexplicable hatred for students and will seize every opportunity to punish anyone who falls into his hands. There's no reasoning with him! The best solution is to run and not get caught!"
With Filch's footsteps blocking their path, the two had no choice but to grit their teeth and run wildly down the curved corridor.
I ran to the end of the corridor, but there was no way out except for a huge, tightly closed wooden door.
Ellie pushed the door twice, but it wouldn't budge; it was locked.
Lucas drew his wand, aimed it at the keyhole, and jabbed it forcefully: "Alohomora!"
With a click, the door lock popped open. Hearing the approaching footsteps and meows behind them, the two pushed the door open without thinking, plunged into the dark room, and locked the door behind them.
Filch's exasperated voice came from outside the door; he seemed unable to open it.
Lucas and Ellie leaned against the door, barely catching their breath, when they heard Ellie gasp in surprise: "That's—"
What?
His sense of smell acted faster than his sight; Lucas caught a pungent, fishy odor that made him dizzy. Then, in the dim light, his eyes gradually adjusted to the darkness.
Both of them froze.
In the very center of the room, a shadow as large as a small mountain slowly rose up, its body almost filling the entire room.
It has three enormous heads, three pairs of ferocious eyes that whirl wildly and flash a terrifying green light in the darkness, and three gaping maws from which thick saliva drips.
Cerberus!
Lucas tensed instantly, because they were so rare that they weren't even included in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
These are ferocious magical creatures, and their danger level is absolutely on par with that of a fire dragon at level XXXXX!
How could Hogwarts keep such a thing in the castle!
It let out a deep roar, arched its back, and was about to pounce when Lucas and Ellie's wands flashed simultaneously!
"They'll all be petrified!"
He collapsed to the ground, completely unconscious!
The two spells struck one of the three-headed dog's heads, halting its movement. But before Ellie could rejoice, she saw that the head struck by the Body Binding Curse was only moving somewhat slowly, while the head struck by the Stunning Curse, its eyelids just drooping, was violently jolted awake by the other head, which became even more enraged!
As Lucas was trying to unlock the door again, the three-headed dog pounced on him, its gaping maw snapping down!
"Lucas!"
In the nick of time, Ellie tackled Lucas to the ground, and the two rolled to the wall, while the three-headed dog crashed into the oak door with a loud thud, making the entire door tremble.
Filch screamed in terror outside the door, and Lucas yelled, "Help! Go find the professor!"
But his hands were already covered in warm liquid, and large amounts of blood were gushing from Ellie's shoulder!
"Ellie!"
It turns out that when she tackled and saved herself, although she avoided the three-headed dog's bite, her shoulder was cut open by its huge claws!
The robe ripped open instantly, and blood gushed out like a fountain. Lucas held the pained Ellie in his arms, while the three-headed dog shook its head and stood up again.
Its roar was so furious that it was about to pounce again!
"Don't worry about me, run!" Ellie said weakly. She used her other arm to push Lucas's body, urging him to run, but Lucas held her even tighter.
"I won't abandon you, Ellie."
Lucas held Ellie tightly with one arm, stood up against the wall, their bodies stained with blood.
The three-headed dog arched its back, its three gaping maws opening wide, their layers of sharp teeth grinding together—
No one was able to rescue them in time.
Only we can save ourselves.
Ellie was bleeding more and more, her body was getting colder and colder, and Lucas's hands were covered in sticky blood, making it almost impossible for him to hold her.
She was about to slide down; she was about to leave me.
She's going to die, but I don't want her to die, and I don't want to die either.
In that instant, all sound vanished—the roar of the three-headed dog, Ellie's painful groans, all disappeared from the room.
Lucas could only hear his blood boiling and roaring, his heart pounding like a drum, his whole body trembling, and his red hair shaking like flames.
He raised his wand, as if he could hear a hoarse roar emanating from the golden maple wand itself.
I have to save her!
Stop right there!
"They'll all be petrified!!!"
This time, what spewed from the tip of the wand was no longer pale blue light.
In the dark room, a hazy, blue phantom shot out from the tip of Lucas's wand like an arrow!
It seemed to be the half-body phantom of a woman, her face indistinct, with countless frantically writhing, hissing venomous snakes coiled around her head!
'
With a strange howl, the ghostly figure of the snake-haired woman crashed into the massive body of the three-headed dog.
"Waaah————"
The once ferocious three-headed dog let out a mournful howl the moment the phantom invaded it. Its attacking body suddenly stiffened, and a layer of eerie blue light spread wildly from the part of it that was hit, instantly enveloping its entire body.
The giant dog that filled the room was pulled and bound by the blue light, turning into a sculpture with its four legs straight and its head held high, with only three pairs of eyes still trembling in fear.
Succeeded?
Lucas felt a sudden relaxation wash over him as an irresistible darkness surged up, causing him to collapse to the ground. Ellie landed directly on top of him.
With a loud bang, in the instant he lost consciousness, he saw the oak door being smashed open and several figures rushing in.
Ellie... she's alright now...
