But Yuto Itsuka spoke first.
“She was here first.” He pointed to Kato Megumi beside him.
The shop assistant paused for a moment, then noticed the girl in front of her, and immediately put on an apologetic smile. "Ah! I'm so sorry! What would you like to order?"
“It’s okay.” Kato Megumi shook her head, then said to the clerk, “Please give me two limited-edition strawberry crepes.”
"OK, just a second!"
Yuto Itsuka looked at Megumi Kato. The girl's face remained expressionless, but her eyelashes trembled slightly when he looked at her.
"Thank you, Itsuka-kun," she said softly.
"It's no trouble at all." Itsuka Yuto waved his hand to indicate that it wasn't necessary, and then said to the shop assistant, "I'll have the same one too."
After paying, the two stood in the waiting area next to each other with their number plates.
Watching the busy staff, Kato Megumi suddenly spoke up: "Sometimes I wonder... is it because my expression is too bland that I'm not easily noticed?"
"Really?" Yuto Itsuka thought for a moment. "I think it's alright, it's quite cute."
"..."
Kato Megumi was silent for a moment, then gave a soft "hmm" and didn't continue the topic, but Itsuka Yuto noticed that a faint pink blush rose at the base of her ears.
After receiving the crepes, the two walked towards the bookstore in tacit agreement.
Yuto Itsuka took a bite, and the sweet and sour taste of strawberries, the rich aroma of cream, and the slightly chewy texture of the pastry intertwined in his mouth; the taste was indeed quite good.
"Delicious," he gave a fair assessment.
"Mmm." Kato Megumi ate in small bites.
"Speaking of which, Kato-kun, why did you join that club? You're not really interested in writing or literature, are you?" Yuto Itsuka asked casually.
Aside from textbooks, he rarely saw his neighbor reading any other books.
He had expected Kato Megumi to give an answer like "I think it will be very lively" or "I want to make more friends".
However, Kato Megumi remained silent for a few seconds before saying in her characteristically calm voice, "Because Itsuka-kun is inside."
"Cough, cough, cough!"
Straight to the point! Is this a confession?
Yuto Itsuka choked and coughed violently, almost spitting out the crepe he had just eaten. He looked at the other person in disbelief, wondering if he had misheard.
Kato Megumi, however, seemed oblivious to his embarrassment. She simply handed him a tissue and continued, "I think it might be tough for Itsuka-kun to be alone in that club."
"Hard?"
"Hmm, Kasumigaoka-senpai seems to have a strong presence, and as for Sawamura-kun... his relationship with Itsuka-kun seems a bit complicated."
"Having one more person might provide some buffer, and it would be even better if they could help Itsuka."
That's right.
Yuto Itsuka held a tissue, speechless for a moment.
He had always thought that Kato Megumi was an indifferent girl who went with the flow.
He thought she joined the club on a whim, or just wanted a place to kill time.
Little did she know, it was because of herself.
It wasn't for the sake of excitement or making friends; it was simply to be able to help myself in some way.
This girl, who is usually as quiet as an invisible person, actually harbors such delicate and gentle kindness deep in her heart.
“I…” He felt a dryness in his throat.
"Thank you, Kato."
I didn't call out to Kato-kun anymore.
"You're welcome." Kato Megumi shook her head, her face still expressionless.
After finishing their crepes, the two walked side by side toward the bookstore.
After that conversation, the atmosphere between the two became subtle and more intimate, no longer just that of classmates sitting next to each other.
"Where is Itsuka-kun going next?"
"Go to the bookstore and find some reference materials."
"Then, can I come along too?" Kato Megumi extended an invitation. "Perfect timing, I'd also like to buy a newly released fashion magazine."
“Of course.” Itsuka Yuto couldn’t refuse.
Speechless all the way.
The large bookstore was quiet, with only the rustling of pages turning and the faint sound of the air conditioning.
Yuto Itsuki walked straight to the reference book section.
He needed to find architectural and cultural references for the otherworldly city that would appear in the second volume.
Kato Megumi didn't follow, but stopped in front of the bestseller shelf at the entrance, seemingly looking for something.
Yuto Itsuka was enjoying himself. He took out several illustrated books about medieval European castles and myths and began to read them carefully.
As a creator, he understands the importance of details. A meticulously constructed world is far more appealing to readers than simply fighting monsters and leveling up.
Time flies when you're focused.
As he roughly selected two reference books and was about to pay, he turned around and saw Kato Yoshimasa standing not far away, holding a book in his hand, seemingly waiting for him.
He walked over, his gaze casually sweeping over the book in her hand.
On the book's cover, a dashing young knight is brandishing a longsword against a backdrop of vast fields and windmills.

Sweaty.
Yuto Itsuki was drenched in sweat.
He now feels as if his treasured cloud storage, which he has kept for many years, has been made public.
He clearly remembered that he had only told Kato Megumi about writing a light novel, but he hadn't told her the title.
A lucky accident? A coincidence?
"Kato-kun...do you also like reading light novels?" He tried to make his tone sound casual.
"Yes, I read it occasionally." Kato Megumi closed the book and put it back in its place. "This book seems to be quite popular lately."
It's quite normal to pick up a bestselling book and take a look at it.
It seems he was overthinking it again.
"Is that so?" Yuto Itsuka replied dryly.
“The author’s name is very unique,” Kato Megumi added. “Beautiful Girl Knight…it feels like she’ll be a very interesting person.”
“…Probably.” Yuto Itsuka felt his cheeks getting hot.
As I stepped out of the bookstore, it was already getting dark.
"I take the train from this side," Kato Megumi pointed in the direction of the station. "Where's Itsuka-kun?"
"I'll go the other way."
"Okay, see you tomorrow." Kato Megumi waved to him gently.
"See you tomorrow."
Volume 1: Chapter 29: Good heavens, this is... Master Li Yi is me!
The last class on Friday afternoon is home economics, which usually covers cooking and sewing.
Today's topic is cooking—making parent-child dishes.
The groups are in pairs, and participants can freely form pairs.
Almost instantly, Yoshihiko Uago turned his expectant gaze toward Yuto Itsuki.
"My dearest friend, I'm begging you!"
"Alright then." Itsuka Yuto nodded helplessly.
So, Yuto Itsuka was in charge of chopping vegetables and cooking, while Yoshihiko Uego was in charge of cleaning ingredients and helping out.
On the other side, Eri Chikawa hesitated for a moment, then looked at Megumi Kato beside her, "Kato-san, shall we come together?"
"OK, all right."
"As expected of Itsuka, your knife skills are truly impressive." Kamigo Niin s[an{(五)=妻酒榴山鸡喜彦 looked at the evenly sized pieces of chicken and onion slices on the cutting board and exclaimed in sincere admiration.
“If you live alone, you have to know a few things,” Yuto Itsuka replied without looking up.
"Damn it, is this what it means to be a social butterfly? Unlike me, all I can do is instant noodles and fried rice."
"Don't the cooking options in the visual novel give you any experience points?"
"Games are games, and reality is reality. Don't confuse games with reality!" Yoshihiko Uego retorted with his "Kou-chan face," but his hands moved quickly as he skillfully cracked eggs.
Soon, a sizzling sound came from the pot, and the aroma of onions and chicken mixed with the sweetness of the sauce instantly filled the air.
At the end of the course, each group presented their finished product.
The eggs from Yuto Itsuka and Yoshihiko Kamigo are golden in color and have a smooth, tender yolk, making them look incredibly appetizing.
"Want to try some?" a voice came from the side.
Kato Megumi handed him a small plate of parent-child food that her group had made.
"It seems we added a little too much soy sauce."
“Okay.” Itsuka Yuto did not refuse and picked up his chopsticks to take a bite.
The taste was indeed a bit salty, but it was still good for him, reminding him of the rich and flavorful dishes of his hometown in his previous life.
"It's delicious," he commented earnestly.
"Hmm." Kato Megumi's lips seemed to curl up slightly. "Yours look better."
"After all, you have me, the perfect assistant with your intelligence network!" Yoshihiko Uego chimed in smugly.
……
The school bell rang as the students were dismissed.
"Club activities," Kato Megumi reminded Itsuka Yuto as she walked over.
"Ah, okay." Itsuka Yuto quickly packed his schoolbag.
The two of them naturally walked out of the classroom together.
"Gogo, come here for a second."
As a result, she bumped into Yoshiko Hasumi, who had just come out of the teachers' office.
Yuto Itsuka gave him a puzzled look, as if to say what was wrong, while Yoshiko Hasumi gestured towards the office, indicating that they should come in and talk.
Yuto Itsuka had no choice but to turn to Megumi Kato and say, "Kato-san, you go ahead."
"I'll wait for you here for a while."
"also."
Yuto Itsuki followed him into the office, closed the door slightly, and asked, "Ren, is there something you need?"
Sitting at her workstation, Hasumi Yoshinoko turned her head, her cheeks puffed out like a pufferfish.
"Hurumi-sensei, is there something you need from me?"
The pufferfish is leaking air.
"It's about the study group."
"A study group? You want me to participate? There's no need for that." Yuto Itsuka felt that with his top grades in his grade, he didn't need to participate in any study group.
"We want you to participate, but as a tutor."
"what?"
