Chapter 2 The Power of the Bear
Chapter 2 The Power of the Bear
The black sheep sensed the bear's presence and paced back and forth in fear!
"They're here!"
Otto quickly crouched down and carefully observed his surroundings.
Immediately afterwards, the eagle's movements gave Otto a clue.
The eagle spotted something moving near the bushes.
With this prompting, Otto looked sharply toward the bushes.
Suddenly, a sound seemed to come from the once quiet bushes.
The dark brown outline slowly emerged, as slowly as a moving rock.
The one-eyed bear raised its head, its nose twitching, as it smelled the aroma of honey and fennel!
As for Otto, he hid behind a rock downwind.
Firstly, it can prevent others from spying on your presence.
Secondly, it allows for immediate response.
Now, Otto's hand rested on the hunting knife at his waist, waiting for his prey to approach.
The one-eyed bear was completely unaware of this. It stood up, placed its front paws on the crossbeam, and stretched its tongue towards the honey.
At that moment, the mechanism activated!
With a soft 'crack', like a tree branch breaking, the twelve wooden stakes crashed down, trapping the one-eyed bear inside.
The one-eyed bear charged furiously at the wooden stake, causing the entire cage to tremble!
But the angled wooden stake will only become tighter and tighter because of its struggle!
Otto knew his chance had come!
He stood up, strode to the cage, drew his hunting knife, and cleanly ended the one-eyed bear's life.
The brown bear acknowledged its defeat and recognized your strength.
The brown bear brings you strength!
The white dog really dislikes this big guy and challenges it to a duel to see who's boss!
But the white dog was swatted away by the eagle; it was this dog that challenged the brown bear!
The eagle proudly declares to the brown bear, "You are the true challenger."
[The strongest showdown in history, the strongest ever!]
"My bloodline is so eager to improve!"
Otto watched the prompts keep appearing with a look of utter amusedness.
At this moment, the forest quieted down again. Otto squatted by the stream washing his hands while watching his "animal friends" frolicking around.
The red threads dissolved in the cold water, and Otto took the opportunity to wash himself.
This prey is a rare find; he can't go back looking disheveled and humiliated to receive his reward!
But looking at his reflection in the water, Otto fell silent.
Now he has a handsome face and a strong physique.
Although the brown bear gave Otto a power boost, Otto's physique did not change much.
Otto wasn't particularly surprised by this.
After all, he had already experienced a similar situation before, and the blessing of the bloodline mark would not bring about any changes in Otto's physique or mentality.
That's a kind of convenience, too.
Looking at his own black hair and black eyes, he would occasionally think of his hometown.
Fortunately, he's gotten used to it.
With these noisy "animal friends" around, he didn't have much opportunity to feel sentimental.
At that moment, it seemed that the animals had already determined who was superior.
[A brown bear defeated an eagle and declared itself the boss!]
The eagle lay down, exhausted, and apologized to its companions with remorse, saying only that it was very sorry it hadn't been able to make the brown bear use its full strength.
The white dog, defeated by the eagle, offered no objection. The black cat and monkey, perched on the black sheep's back, watched the farce helplessly, having no intention of participating whatsoever.
The brown bear has become the leader!
Otto remained completely unmoved as the "Animal Friends" chose their leader.
However, watching them frolic provided some solace for Otto during the tedious time of moving the brown bear carcass.
Fortunately, Otto's strength had surpassed the peak of an average man, and he dragged the brown bear out of the oak forest.
This also gives him the opportunity to train his gradually increasing strength.
By the time Otto dragged the brown bear back to the village, the sun had already risen behind the mill waterwheel.
Upon seeing Otto and his prey, the villagers shouted excitedly, calling for others to come out and see!
At that moment, all the villagers came out.
The children screamed and ran over to stroke the brown bear's fur, while the women stood by the well whispering among themselves.
Finally, the elderly looked at Alto with eyes full of satisfaction.
"No, why don't you guys come and lend a hand?"
Otto was very annoyed. These guys were just having fun and didn't even intend to help!
Upon hearing Otto's complaints, the youths burst into laughter.
"This is an honor for you; we wouldn't dare share it with you!"
Everyone has watched Otto grow up, and today is his moment of glory, so how can we disturb him?
And so, Otto dragged the brown bear all by himself to the center of the village.
The village chief squeezed through the crowd and saw the brown bear, which was even bigger than their barn. He was stunned for a while before suddenly slapping Otto on the shoulder, so hard that Otto's shoulder blade hurt a little.
"I knew it! None of those old guys are any good. It's up to our Otto to handle this!"
After the village chief finished speaking, he immediately called for preparations to be made to cook the brown bear.
Looking at the gray-haired old village chief in front of him, Otto showed a hint of embarrassment.
"The village chief of Lance still has such a strong grip."
Otto was somewhat frustrated; the greatest harm he had suffered today had actually come from the village chief!
However, Otto wasn't too surprised.
According to the villagers, Lance seemed to have been an adventurer in the past.
It was precisely because of his adventurer background that he accepted Otto's parents' application for immigration.
After Otto's parents passed away, they gathered the villagers to raise Otto together.
It can be said that Otto and other orphans in similar circumstances have been cared for by the villagers for the past fifteen years.
That's why Otto joined the hunting party after seeing the barn destroyed.
It wasn't just because he wanted to gamble on the bloodline mark, but more so because of his anger at the beast for destroying the village's livelihood.
Fortunately, the one-eyed bear problem has finally been solved, and everyone can now rest easy and get through the upcoming winter.
With that in mind, Otto also joined in dismantling the brown bear carcass.
As the villagers chatted and laughed, night gradually fell.
That evening, a bonfire was lit in the open space in front of the abandoned church of village chief Lance.
The bear skin was laid out to dry on a rack to the side.
The grease gleamed with a deep amber light in the firelight.
The men took turns coming over to toast Otto.
"Otto is a man now, he can finally drink!"
The strong men in the village had been looking forward to this day.
They brought out the mead and handed it to Otto.
As they clinked glasses, the beer spilled from the rim, splashing onto the muddy ground, raising foam and dust, but it was negligible compared to what the men had drunk.
The women on the side were cautiously inquiring about Otto's preferences, hoping to see if they had any chance.
For a time, the area around the campfire was quite noisy.
As for Otto, after having a few drinks with his elders, he immediately sat down in a corner, eating wild fruit while looking at the campfire in front of him and pondering his future.
But at that moment, Lance sat down opposite Otto.
