The second layer of the box was filled with neatly stacked gold bars.
This is the money Elnuwal II took with him when he fled to restore his kingdom.
Thank goodness.
The six-armed serpent demon looked around and let out a long breath.
Demons need no food or fine clothes; gold is no longer important to them.
But since this is the last place where the Mandeh royal family disappeared hundreds of years ago, then presumably the escape route of Elinuvar II, the "Narubel Pass", must be not far from here.
Chapter 20 Mand the Slayer
The six-armed serpent demon used its dominant right hand to raise the sword of Elinuvar Mand to shoulder level.
This greatsword, made of fine gold, has a slender blade with a beautifully flattened hexahedral cross-section and an extremely sharp point. The guard is inches long and has a handguard.
The inch of blade in front of the guard is unsharpened, because sharpening it wouldn't be very useful; this section of the blade is difficult to use to generate power and injure an opponent. Some two-handed sword techniques also rely on gripping this section of the blade to generate power.
But this is just how ordinary people use it, not the way the six-armed serpent demon does it.
Further forward and to the left and right of the sword blade are two protruding flanges, which are parry hooks, also known as the second sword guard. They can be used to hook and lock the enemy's weapon during a slash, or for pecking and thrusting.
His emerald green vertical pupils stared fervently at the tip of the sword.
It is truly an unparalleled sharp blade.
The exceptional hardness and strength of refined gold make this greatsword not only capable of mowing down numerous enemies like grass and piercing through heavy armor like a spear, but also effortlessly cut through enemy weapons and slay charging knights and their warhorses.
Not only that.
This greatsword of the Amannatha paladin, having withstood eight hundred years of decay, still possesses incredible magical power. No wonder Elinuwal Mand was able to surpass all others and become the founding monarch of the Mand dynasty.
She detected at least three magical properties in the greatsword.
The first one is "Magebane".
When facing an enemy capable of casting arcane magic, the Sword of Elinuvar-Mand becomes exceptionally sharp and precise, not only hitting the enemy more easily but also inflicting unimaginable damage. It is truly a bane of arcane magic.
Moreover, it has the same effect on enemies with spell-like abilities.
This is amazing! Which advanced adventurer or powerful creature doesn't possess a few spell-like abilities and a few magical items? It has anti-magic properties and is a broad-spectrum antibiotic in the armed forces.
The six-armed serpent demon stroked the sword with obvious delight, feeling somewhat relieved.
First of all, it was fortunate that the sword didn't fall into someone else's hands, otherwise it would have caused her a lot of trouble.
Secondly, judging from Tancred's words, Samarach is a wizard-ruled kingdom. Since Tancred dared to bring people to capture her, he will inevitably have to deal with the wizards of Samarach. And to deal with someone like the wizard Ur, having this greatsword with anti-magic properties gives her another trump card.
The second magical attribute is "Mighty Smiting".
If the wielder of the Sword of Elinuvar-Mand possesses abilities like "Exorcising Slash" or "Power Strike" (similar to a paladin's), then this greatsword can amplify the destructive power of such abilities and allow the wielder to use them an additional time each day.
This magical attribute is not needed for the time being.
She thought that perhaps only when she advanced further in her mortal hunter profession and mastered the profession's power, "Mortal Slash," would she be able to unleash the full potential of this magical attribute.
The last magical attribute of Elinuvar Mand's Sword is not exactly friendly to the six-armed serpent demon: "Holy".
This greatsword is imbued with powerful holy light. When used against evil creatures, the holy light seeps into the wounds, causing immense damage to the enemy's body. However, if the wielder is evil, it will instead lower their own health level.
However, the six-armed serpent demons were all natural masters of using magical devices. The moment she picked up the greatsword, she unconsciously adjusted her aura to avoid the alignment penalty brought by the greatsword's holy attribute. As long as she didn't impulsively use the sword on herself, there wouldn't be any problems.
The six-armed serpent demon gently stroked the magical inscriptions on the spine of the sword.
Most weapons, when held in her hands, automatically acquire the attributes of "chaos" and "evil." However, this greatsword still shines with the holy light of "goodness," relentlessly resisting the erosion of demonic power.
The divine energy, flowing through the magical inscriptions, caused a slight tingling and numbness in her fingertips.
This is probably why Elinuwal I insisted that his descendants must inherit the profession in order to inherit power.
She gazed at the faint holy light flickering on the sword's edge.
This sacred, demon-slaying, and powerful greatsword is a precious legacy of Elinuwal-Mand and a symbol of the Mand dynasty's continuity.
Its power can only be unleashed when the king assumes the priesthood.
Unable to assume the role of a paladin, and realizing his inability to subdue the four founding counts, Elinuvar II enlisted the help of serpent people to consolidate his power. Although he succeeded temporarily, he ultimately ended up alienated and betrayed by his followers.
The six-armed serpent demon brandished it with one hand, twirling it a few times before reluctantly putting "Mande" away.
"Mande" is the new name of this sword.
"Sword of Elinuvar-Mand" was really long and tedious, but it would be a shame to change such a historically significant original name. So, the name of the dynasty was used as the nickname for this greatsword.
She looked at the gold.
Although demons don't need gold at all, the human souls of the past life still find it hard to resist the allure of its glittering gold.
So she tried to lift the suitcase full of gold to see if she could take the money with her.
"Holy crap..."
The suitcase remained motionless; even with the immense strength of the six-armed serpent demon, it was difficult to move this heavy object.
So she tried to put the suitcase into the dimensional bag, but it still didn't work. The total weight of the gold exceeded the dimensional bag's weight limit, so it simply wouldn't fit.
There was no other way but to take the gold bars out of the suitcase one by one and put them into the dimensional bag.
The dimensional bag of the mage Ur had a good capacity; the reborn man put more than 600 pounds of gold bricks into it and it was still not full.
Even so, the gold transferred to the dimensional bag was less than one-thirtieth of the total number of gold bars.
Finally, she was panting and tired of the boring, repetitive work.
The six-armed serpent demon found a nearby pit, pushed the leather trunk and the remaining gold into it, buried them, and threw a large rock on top as a marker.
—Getting down to business is the priority.
She thought to herself, annoyed.
— First, get yourself a sturdy top.
Yes, since her rebirth, she still hasn't been able to find suitable clothes for herself.
In Eric van Boto’s circular basement, she used to peel off the hoodies worn by dead soldiers and put them on herself.
The result was tragic.
She couldn't wear ordinary clothes at all; at most, she could wear them around her neck as a scarf.
The six-armed serpent demon was already a large creature, not to mention her incredibly vast chest and six arms.
As she left the manor, she managed to gather the sleeves and hems of the two garments together and tie them in a knot. It was like an ancient two-piece armor, hanging in front of her chest.
After making do like this for less than ten minutes, the two-quarter bust size made from the pullover was ruined.
There were no paths in the primeval jungle. She had to either crawl through bushes or piles of vines, and before long her clothes were torn to shreds by tangled branches and other debris.
She then cut two large banana leaves and pasted them on her chest, but it didn't help.
In a primeval jungle, clothes can be ruined in ten minutes, and banana leaves can be ruined in five minutes.
Picking banana leaves while traveling is still quite strenuous.
In the end, thanks to the six-armed snake demon's hand, which made things easier, he freed up both hands and used them to support and cover the area as he walked, barely managing to solve the problem.
For that reason alone, she didn't want to stay in the jungle for even a minute longer.
Fortunately, a subsequent conflict with the native hunters made her notice the gourds under their waists.
Then inspiration struck.
The six-armed serpent demon removed the worn-out armor from the skeletons of more than a dozen guards.
She selected the two largest one-piece semi-circular shoulder armor pieces and tried them on her chest. The overlapping arm guards connected to the shoulder armor fit snugly against her ribs.
Looking down at the results, I breathed a sigh of relief.
It's alright, at least it covers half of it.
With six hands working together, the efficiency is really high.
In no time, she had polished the selected shoulder armor and arm guards to a new shine.
They then deftly removed about a hundred gold threads from the hem of the dress that appeared to be the queen's remains, and twisted them together into a dozen or so thin gold ropes.
Thread two thin gold cords through the lacing holes on the edges of the shoulder armor and arm guards, stringing them together like lacing up sneakers.
One gold rope was left behind, while the rest were tied in a row along the lower edge of the arm guard.
Untie the gold cord hanging from the lower edge of the arm guard, and the fine gold threads form long tassels.
After finishing with the tassels, six jade arms reached out to her plump and sturdy white jade back, carefully tying the gold ropes that came out of the nail hole into a row of knots behind her back.
OK, the shoulder armor and arm guards are now firmly secured to the front of the body.
Then she wrapped the last gold rope around the braid of her long, jet-black hair.
The six-armed serpent demon stretched its body, drew six greatswords including Mand, struck a few poses, and tried to swing them a few times.
After confirming that she could move freely, she looked at her reflection in the water and felt extremely satisfied.
The design of this bronze bikini is somewhat reminiscent of a medieval woman's corset.
It offers excellent frontal protection and also looks great.
This is how a reflection appears in the water:
A snake-bodied beauty with six jade arms, each wielding a large sword.
The upper body features gleaming, semi-circular bronze shoulder armor that supports the magnificent, snow-white breasts. The shoulder armor is inlaid with turquoise and mother-of-pearl patterns, presenting a fantastical and magnificent color scheme.
The upper abdomen was covered by layers of equally gleaming golden armor plates.
Through the golden tassels, her slender and flexible waist and powerful abs are faintly visible.
Further down, one can see a white, jade-like abdomen contrasted with a thick, jet-black snake body, as robust as a giant python. This stark contrast makes the half-human, half-snake demonic form appear even more ferocious and terrifying.
—Ready to go, all that's left is to break through the Narubel Pass.
The six-armed serpent demon plotted.
Narubel Pass, not only the main route in and out of Samarach, is also the geographical name of Tankred that she had specifically inquired about.
If that guy had any brains, he wouldn't just be following me around conducting a dragnet search. To prevent me from escaping across the border, he would have definitely deployed a large force to blockade the Narubel Pass in advance.
You'll likely encounter Samarach's main army, those wizards riding winged horses.
A fierce battle is about to begin.
"In that case, let's do it."
She stared at the silver-blue adamantite greatsword in her hand.
“Mand the Slayer, let the tyrant’s lackey feel your power… and my power as well.”
Suddenly, a loud crashing sound came from the high cliff ahead, as mud and rocks tumbled down.
The cries of cloaked flying monkeys echoed from the treetops on the cliff.
The six-armed serpent demon looked up and saw a huge hole in the cliff face. The familiar yet terrifying insect head of the alien cockroach was peeking out of the hole.
The earth giant turned its head around, aiming at the six-armed serpent demon, and its mouthparts then made a clicking sound.
It seemed to be a greeting to her.
The insect's head retracted.
The soil fell in a soft rustling sound.
The opening expanded rapidly, and in less than a minute, it became a large, round hole.
A joyful smile appeared on her beautiful face.
She saw the owl bear cubs peeking out of the cave, their furry, round faces and four large, bright round eyes.
"Gurgle, gurgle"
She waved six hands at them, and the two little guys barked even more happily.
Then, the vulture head of the Deinonychus monster poked its head out, which was naturally ignored.
Author's note: I'm going to my parents' house tonight, so I'm posting this ahead of time.
Chapter 21: Lure the Tiger Away from the Mountain
Narubel Pass is located downstream from the cliff where the Six-Armed Serpent Demon obtained the legacy of the Mande Dynasty.
