Chapter 49 Fengbo Village

Chapter 49 Fengbo Village

After eating and drinking his fill, Yu Jing looked up at the fine rain outside the shop, not in a hurry to pay the bill.

Ask the waiter to remove the dishes we've finished and bring out two more snacks.

Let's turn our attention back to the newcomer's handbook.

Having learned about the past of the Explorers Headquarters, now it's time for the main event.

Check the table of contents and turn to the section on border areas.

He was eager to know what the Explorers' Headquarters' outposts in foreign lands were like.

He tucked the spine of the book twice with his index finger, and information about the border area came into view.

[Boundary Area]

As the name suggests, this is a buffer zone between the real world and the alien world, a middle ground between order and madness. It is neither real nor purely alien; if you had to describe it, it would be a gray area where the two permeate each other.

The Explorers' Agency's decision to establish its base in the border region was undoubtedly based on multiple considerations.

First, the natural spatial barriers at the border and the ban on electronic devices can minimize outside spying, ensuring full security. Explorers can freely trade information and supplies here.

Secondly, the fact that the border is between reality and another world makes it extremely easy to construct a spatial teleportation channel through anchors, making it an excellent transit station for traveling between the two worlds.

Whether it's weapons, equipment, or large machinery manufactured in the modern world, or various supplies collected from resource points in other regions, they can all be transferred at the border, ensuring safety and saving a lot of resources.

Finally, and most importantly, the border area does not completely exclude ordinary people from entering!

Although the new recruit handbook does not explain how ordinary people can enter the border area, it does mention that ordinary people can freely enter and exit the border area through certain means, and thus participate in the daily operation of the base.

This undoubtedly greatly enhances the value of the border area.

Therefore, not only the Explorers' Headquarters, but also official and even non-governmental organizations from various countries, after discovering the existence of the border area, regard it as an extremely important outpost base for carrying out various exotic-related activities.

During the decade in which the struggle between various forces was most intense.

Explorers even considered finding the border as a shortcut to success, and even the faintest clues could fetch astronomical prices.

Unfortunately, the number of border areas is extremely small, and there is no specific pattern to their appearance.

Even the Explorers Agency, which has been deeply involved in this field for many years, currently controls a very limited number of border areas.

Take the United Federation, where Yu Jing currently resides, as an example.

The Explorers Headquarters members, including those from Guangsha City and the entire Southwest region, all belong to the same border area, which is the "Fengbo Village" that Yao Feng mentioned earlier.

The official government and a few private forces may also control other border areas.

However, unlike Fengbo Village, which has always adhered to the Explorers' Headquarters' principles and opened up to all partners and ordinary wanderers to a limited extent, allowing them to enter and trade intelligence and resources, other forces obviously cannot do this.

Without exception, the latter all treated the border areas they controlled as secret strongholds, which were impossible for outsiders to enter.

To some extent, this is one of the important reasons why the Explorers Headquarters was able to grow and expand rapidly.

According to the newcomer's handbook, the Explorers' Headquarters welcomes all explorers who are passionate about exploring exotic lands to enjoy the various conveniences offered by the Fengbo Village platform and to assist their exploration of exotic lands.

Of course, openness here does not mean unlimited giving.

Similar to the teleportation channels, exotic intelligence, and anchors controlled by the Explorers' Headquarters, these are valuable resources that the organization's members have painstakingly acquired through countless trials and tribulations. If other organizations or individuals wish to use them, an equivalent exchange is the most basic requirement.

After all, the Explorers Headquarters is not a charity.

It also needs to maintain its operation and acquire resources to support larger-scale explorations in other lands.

Seeing this, Yu Jing moved his finger and turned the page again.

Next up is a map and related information about Fengbo Village, the location of the Southwest Branch of the Explorers' Headquarters.

As seen on the map, Fengbo Village is structured in concentric circles, divided into two main areas: an inner and an outer area.

The external open area is open to all explorers, while the internal area is accessible only to members of the Explorers Headquarters.

The area open to the public consists of slums, commercial areas, and pubs.

The Burrows are areas for personal trading, or to put it bluntly, stalls where explorers can rent stalls or small shops to buy and sell items they have obtained from other lands. The Explorers' Headquarters is responsible for maintaining order and ensuring that there are no cases of forced buying or selling.

The commercial district is where the offices of official and non-governmental organizations are located.

As partners of the Explorers' Headquarters, they were allowed to occupy a plot of land in Fengbo Village to build a base for participating in exotic exploration activities, recruiting other explorers who had not yet joined the organization, or providing ordering services for various equipment, props, and potions.

The tavern goes without saying; it's where explorers exchange information and accept commissions from various factions. If you need to form a team, finding someone here is definitely more reliable than finding someone through online platforms in the real world.

At least it ensures face-to-face communication, and you don't have to worry about being scammed online or other such nonsense.

The interior area consists of the Explorers' Hall and the three departments under the branch.

The Explorers' Hall is where various procedures are handled, so there's no need to elaborate. The focus is on the three main departments, which are:

[Exploration Agency] [Research Agency] [Defense Agency]

The new employee handbook provides a simple summary of the responsibilities of these three departments.

This allows newcomers to choose which department to join based on their own circumstances after completing formal registration.

[Exploration Agency]

As its name suggests, this is the main field operations department of the Explorers Headquarters in various border areas.

Their duties include exploration and rescue in foreign lands, mapping, development of new areas, and resource exploration.

The department will release various exotic exploration missions from time to time. Explorers can choose to accept missions individually or in teams and carry out actions. Completing missions will also earn them various rewards from the Explorers' Headquarters.

Research Office

The Explorers Headquarters' technical departments at various border locations.

Their responsibilities include researching patterns in other realms, analyzing monster ecology, recording abnormal phenomena, developing equipment, and compiling intelligence archives.

This department has very high requirements for the personal qualities of its members, while combat ability is secondary. Therefore, among all the departments under the Explorers' Headquarters, this department has the highest proportion of ordinary people, and most of them are scientific researchers.

National Defense Agency

The Explorers' Headquarters' armed defense forces at various border locations.

Its responsibilities include border security, targeted elimination of alien monsters, confrontation with hostile forces, and emergency response to crisis events.

In the real world, invasions by alien monsters are constantly occurring, and the borderlands are no exception. More importantly, the borderlands contain a large amount of resources and important intelligence, making it hard not to attract the covetous eyes of others.

Although the Explorers Agency has established cooperative relationships with official and non-governmental organizations around the world over the years, there has never been a shortage of terrorist organizations in the world that attempt to destroy everything and profit from it.
