Chapter 32: Mr. Riddle
Chapter 32: Mr. Riddle
"Hello, my name is Loila Hamilton." Loila wrote her name on the paper, enunciating each word clearly, and then watched it disappear quietly.
I have to say, this is actually quite interesting... It's much more comfortable than talking to people face-to-face... I wish all communication could be this simple.
"Hello, Miss Hamilton, may I ask... where did you obtain my diary?"
"You mean... you're alive? I didn't steal this! I just suddenly found it in my bag..." Loila quickly explained, worried that the other person might think she had stolen something and come at her directly.
"I am already dead." Tom, the owner of the diary, wrote in a much more elegant and ornate hand than Loila. Just by looking at his handwriting, Loila could tell that he must be a highly talented wizard...
Has such a wizard already died?
Who am I talking to?
Loila felt her hair stand on end. Could it be some kind of ghost?
"Don't be afraid, this is a memory of mine." Tom seemed to have guessed Loira's thoughts, and his words flowed smoothly across the diary: "My memory from when I was sixteen."
"Memories from when I was sixteen? In the notebook?" Loila was subconsciously a little... a little excited.
This Mr. Riddle must be a genius!
Loila, pen in hand, wrote: "You were already able to create magic array items when you were sixteen?"
"And it's such a complex combination of magic arrays!"
"You know about magic circles?" Tom seemed a little surprised, and answered much faster: "Can you identify the magic circle on my diary?"
"A part..." Loila wrote, somewhat excitedly.
This was the first time she had met someone other than her father who could discuss magic arrays with her. Even Miss Lovegood was only interested in magic arrays; most of the time, she was just watching herself carve them.
But this Mr. Riddle is different! He created the diary in front of him independently when he was sixteen years old, a product of multiple magic arrays!
Such a genius has not left his name in history... In what year was he born? In those fifty years? Or long before him?
"Part of it?" Tom paused for a few seconds. "Which parts?"
"Could it be... you're going to teach me?" Loila asked subconsciously, then she remembered that she was talking to the diary, so she quickly grabbed the pen and wrote: "There are only energy storage magic arrays and spatial magic arrays, and this communication magic array... I don't know much about the others yet."
Loila pursed her lips and added, "Can you teach me?"
"no."
Tom answered Loira's question almost immediately: "I'm not your teacher."
"Besides... I don't remember the contents of the magic circle either."
"You don't... remember either?" Loila was a little surprised. Wasn't this what you made?
"I am a memory from when I was sixteen, which was placed inside before the diary was fully made," the diary continued. "I only remember a part of it."
"For example, understanding the meaning of ancient magical runes within a magic circle."
Is that so...? But that's enough.
Loila only knew that the two ancient runes represented communication, but she was still unclear about what they meant... So she quickly wrote, "Can you tell me?"
"I'll trade anything for you!"
"Anything?" Tom seemed somewhat interested in Loira's suggestion, and after a brief silence, he replied, "Then I have a request."
"If you can do me one thing... I can not only tell you the meaning of the ancient runes, but also share with you a secret chamber containing ancient runes."
"A densely packed, tightly packed room!"
That's so cool!
Loila instinctively wanted to jump up from the chair!
"What should I do?" Loila wrote excitedly.
"It's simple," Tom replied quickly. "I'm a student at Hogwarts."
"I've been away from my alma mater for a long time... It's a place I've always missed."
"I miss the first time I stepped onto the Hogwarts playground." His handwriting was full of nostalgia, which made Loira purse her lips.
"I miss the first time I walked into the Great Hall of Hogwarts and saw those beautiful candles floating in the sky." His thoughts seemed to return to Hogwarts, and his handwriting was exceptionally captivating, causing Loira to subconsciously feel her eyes slightly moist.
"I still miss my first Defense Against the Dark Arts class, and I miss Professor Albus Dumbledore's attitude towards me..."
"Snapped!"
Loila immediately slammed the diary shut and let out a deep breath...
Dengdengdengdengblido...
Why are you everywhere?!
Do you understand what it feels like to suddenly have a scary scene interrupt your heartwarming comic? When Loila saw that name, she broke out in a cold sweat.
The already somewhat somber atmosphere suddenly turned terrifying.
"Mr. Riddle... please don't mention that person..." She carefully opened her notebook to make sure the words had disappeared before writing, "He'll show up the moment you mention him!"
Yes, Royla felt that every time she mentioned Dumbledore, he would appear in front of her... It was giving her a bit of PTSD...
"I understand." Tom remained silent for a long time before asking, "Then what should I call him?"
"Just... just that person will do..." Loila carefully wrote, "That person refers to Deng..."
"Okay," Tom continued, "Therefore... I really want to go back to Hogwarts; it's my biggest dream before I die."
"Miss Hamilton, can you help me?"
Of course... of course... this is really nothing to Loila, after all, she's about to become a professor at Hogwarts.
"Okay, I promise you." Loila thought for a moment and added, "But it will have to wait until September."
"September? Are you a student?"
"No...no." Loila's pen paused for a few seconds. After thinking for a moment, she felt that it might not be a problem to tell a dead person that she was a professor or something.
"I'm going to be a professor at Hogwarts in September." She paused and wrote on the next line: "Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor."
"That's perfect, I..." The diary replied quickly. Loila could see the joy in Tom's words, but she wasn't curious about Hogwarts.
Especially since it might involve that person... namely Dumbledore.
So she continued writing, picking up where Tom left off: "Could you tell me the meaning of that ancient rune first?"
Tom paused, seemingly annoyed at being interrupted.
After about ten seconds, he replied, "These two ancient runes are a pair of runes; they can only be used when inscribed simultaneously."
"In one case, the semicircle with an opening at the top represents connection, while in the other case, the semicircle with an opening at the bottom represents transmission."
"Regarding connections, the size of the semi-circular opening is the mark for connection pairing. Only two objects with the same arc can be connected."
"After the magic runes for transmission are inscribed, it becomes possible to transfer changes from one part of a connected object to another part."
So that's how it is... In other words, these two magic circles work together... Loila suddenly had many thoughts.
For example, a necklace could be made so that if one party is in danger, the other party can sense it... or it could be used for communication.
For example, give it to Dumbledore... that way he won't have to come in person if anything happens, he can just write it down for himself... this might be good for his health.
However, this seems to be only slightly faster than using an owl, although Dumbledore doesn't seem to have any habit of using owls at all...
"Thank you, Mr. Riddle!" Loila happily thanked Tom in her diary.
It would be even better if you could remember more magic circles.
